Party invites 101

Nowadays, when it comes to telling people that you’re throwing a party, most people tend to just communicate it to their guests by either talking face to face or they phone them or text them.

However, there are still some individuals out there, quite a large number of them, who enjoy sending party invites when planning their parties. These are the sorts of people who like to have their friends and family over their house to celebrate various special events.

When you’re deciding on the type or theme of your party you can do some research on the Internet and see what choices are out there because you might be able to throw a completely different party than you previously though; all you need is the information. Ideally you should send these party invites with plenty of time in advance, and this means weeks, somewhere from six to eight would be good.

Also, if the party will be taking place during an important holiday then you should definitely send the invitations at least eight weeks before the date because at those times of the year everyone’s schedules are jam packed with things to do so they’ll need a lot of advanced warning if you want them to attend your party. If you’re planning on working with a caterer in case the party is meant for more people or just for something special you might want to include a RSVP on the invite.

Things can be more lax if you’re planning a birthday party for a child, here it’s usually about deciding upon a theme for the party and then getting or making some custom party invites that explain what the theme is or any other special requirements that you may have for the party.

Themes like circus, fairies, pirates, princes and princesses are great for children and getting the children to wear costumes isn’t something you’ll have trouble with because kids always want to dress up. The party invitation should reflect the party’s general theme and also offer instructions on whether the guests should bring with them something in particular or wear a costume. Maybe you’ll want everybody at the party to wear a bandana or an eye patch if it’s a pirate theme for instance.

The color scheme you use on the invitation should also reflect whether the celebrant is a boy or a girls; usually colors like blue, green and red work great for boys and for girls any and all shades of pink.

In the end, the party invitation will basically convince people to come to your party, so you should put some time into creating the perfect one.
